Jeffreys Bay Surf Breaks Guide
J-Bay is home to some of the world's most famous right-hand point breaks. Here's what you need to know about each break and who it's best suited for:
Kitchen Windows
The ideal learning break, right in front of Wavecrest on Dolphin Beach. Long, mellow waves with a forgiving takeoff, perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers. This is where our group lessons take place. The sandy bottom and consistent shape make it ideal for learning pop-ups and building confidence.
Our lesson spotMagnatubes
A fast, long-walled section linking into the main J-Bay pointbreak. Great for intermediate surfers wanting to work on speed and longer wave riding. Accessible in smaller swells. Once you've got your basics down at Kitchen Windows, Magnatubes is the natural next step.
Speed & styleThe Point
Where surfing in J-Bay started, and still the friendliest wave on the point. Long, mellow right-handers that break slower than Supertubes and run a long way, so there is time to work on your turns instead of just holding on. A favourite with longboarders and with anyone stepping up from the inside. Best on a mid to low tide with a southwest wind.
Longboard favouriteBoneyards
A powerful, hollow wave breaking over a rocky bottom between Magnatubes and Supertubes. Best for experienced surfers who are comfortable in heavier conditions. Our surf guides can take you here when conditions and ability align. It's not for the faint-hearted.
With a guideSupertubes
One of the world's greatest right-hand point breaks and home of the WSL Corona Cero J-Bay Open. Fast, barrelling, and powerful: a bucket-list wave for advanced surfers. Visible from Dolphin Beach on any sizeable swell. Watch the pros charge it while you learn at Kitchen Windows!
